Together, my clients and I co-create therapeutic relationships in which they can explore their feelings and experiences while also being gentle with themselves. “Gentle” here doesn’t mean “not challenging.” It means being open to new growth and holding compassion for ourselves, wherever we are on our path.
In sessions, I primarily draw on the following techniques: mindfulness, somatic work, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and creative expression. I have a systems perspective that sees each person as an individual but also as a member of multiple systems (e.g. family, community, society, Earth). I also draw on attachment theory to understand how important our early relationships are and how they impact our adult lives.
A newer component of my practice is climate psychology. As we move through the unique moment in history in which we are all living, mental health professionals need to rise to the occasion to offer new kinds of support. I am committed to being part of this response, and learning how to effectively support people to meet sometimes overwhelming challenges like environmental degradation, a changing climate, and social upheaval with courage, resilience, and love. There is nothing to make this work easy. But when we are in relationship with each other, it becomes doable.
Statement of Belonging

Each person is unique; we all belong.

I affirm the identities of my LGBTQ+ clients and their loved ones.

I endeavor to engage in anti-racist mental health practice.

I work to recognize ways that systemic injustice impacts individual and collective wellbeing.

I strive to hold a space for compassion, creativity, courage, and clarity, where not only our individual but also our collective and intergenerational trauma can begin to heal.
